The 22nd of February 2015, is a day we will cherish till eternity. By gracing the 38th Foundation Day of Dale View with his presence as its chief guest, he set in motion a chain of events that will soon culminate with a positive change in the lives of people living in rural Trivandrum.
Founded in the year 1978 by Sri. C Christudas, Dale View is a secular non-governmental organisation registered under the Charitable Societies Act that was created to bring about socio-economic development to rural areas through education. Over the last few decades, the organisation has rendered yeoman service in the fields of education, health, female emancipation, de-addiction, upliftment of the transgender community, programmes for the poor and disabled and Agriculture.
Working under the guidance and inspiration of one of India’s greatest sons, Dale View continues to contribute to society and to transform into reality the great vision of APJ Abdul Kalam through the activities taken up by Kalam Smriti International.

His ideals serve as an inspiration for the work of the Dale View Group of Institutions headed by Sri. C Christudas, Founder and Director. It is also the best way we can pay our tribute to the memory of our most beloved President.
In the years leading up to India becoming a developed nation, where every Indian goes to bed with food in his belly, a roof over his head and a means to a life of dignity as envisioned by APJ Abdul Kalam, the Dale View Group has the following vision that will contribute to nation building;.
To become an NGO of high reputation with a mission to free society from the evils of substance abuse
To create a University of excellence for pharmaceutical sciences to serve the student community
To build a Medical College with advanced infrastructure to deliver quality healthcare to the rural population
To promote a Pharmaceutical Production unit to supply medicines at low cost to NGOs and goverment agencies
To set up a center for early detection of cancer for the under privileged
As APJ Abdul Kalam has mentioned in his book, ‘India 2020: A vision for a New Millennium’ - Vision 2020, too, does not belong to any single party, government or individual. It is a national vision. Once the government commits to realizing it, it has to be discussed and debated in detail by all elected representatives in Parliament so that a national consensus –incorporating the concerns of all stakeholders such as the executive, the judiciary, the political class, media, intellectuals, academia, business, industry, teachers, doctors, farmers, and the youth of the nation – emerges.
Hence the elected leader of the nation – the driving force behind the vision – should be a creative leader who walks an unexplored path of developmental politics with the cooperation of other parties, using the core competences of other leaders, intellectuals, able and creative minds from all disciplines irrespective of their party affiliations, to realize the vision.
When one is to identify a winner worthy of the person in whose name the award is constituted, great care must be taken to assemble the best minds who can apply their abundant knowledge and experience to find the recipient of the Dr. Kalam Smriti International Excellence Award.
We are eternally grateful to the distinguished personalities who agreed to be part of the jury and for spending their valuable time in deliberations to identify the inaugural winner.
